TikToker Jen Dao (@jenhdao) is a California-based chef and self-described foodie who recently shared a beautiful recipe that begs the question: Are crystal gummies the new sweet snack trend that’s over TikTok?
Next, she gives the mixture a whisk, then cooks it over medium heat before mixing in sugar, followed by lychee extract.
She pours the mixture into a greased baking dish and then adds food coloring. Dao scatters small dots of green and blue food coloring around the gummy mixture, then uses a toothpick to make swirls and spread out the color.
Tinashe is calling the shots:
Once decorated, she refrigerates the gummy mixture for two hours before transferring it from the baking dish to a cutting board lined with parchment paper.
Finally, Dao carves the gummy slab into jagged crystal shapes before letting them sit at room temperature for two to three days to crystallize fully.
The finished product is an array of aqua-colored crystal gummies with a crunchy exterior and soft interior that look as if they emerged from the bottom of the ocean.
“Dang girl, that’s awesome!”
Viewers took to the comments to share their unanimous love for Dao’s stunning crystal gummies.
“Dang girl, that’s awesome! Gotta try that soon,” complimented one user.
“Looks delicious! The waiting part would be hard, though,” one TikToker mentioned.
“Looks so beautiful and yummy! Where do you purchase the lychee extract?” one viewer inquired, to which Dao suggested, “Asian markets and Amazon!”
Considering this interesting and unique dessert is beautiful and easy to make, you’re bound to see crystal gummies show up on your TikTok feed soon, if you haven’t already.
