Ree Drummond has the easiest ice cream recipe that doesn’t require an ice cream maker. It comes together quickly and is then popped into the freezer to harden. ‘The Pioneer Woman’ star shared her easy tips for this foolproof dessert.
Ree Drummond’s chocolate dream ice cream recipe requires no churning
Drummond demonstrated how to make her no-churn chocolate dream ice cream during an episode of The Pioneer Woman dedicated to recipes for hot days.
The Food Network host whipped together heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla. Then Drummond lightly folded in a can of sweetened condensed milk.
“When I first made ice cream this way, I was absolutely shocked by how much it actually tasted like real ice cream that you would churn in an ice cream maker,” she explained.
Drummond acknowledged, “I mean, it’s missing a tiny bit of the richness but if you’re just looking to make a quick batch of ice cream this is such a cool idea. And you can color the ice cream, like bright blue and put sprinkles in it. I did that once and called it mermaid ice cream.”
‘The Pioneer Woman’ prepped the dessert for the freezer
She poured half of the mixture into another bowl. In one of the bowls, she folded in melted white chocolate and chunks of white chocolate. In the other bowl, she added semi-sweet melted chocolate, unsweetened cocoa powder, and chocolate chips. “The cream mixture is really, really sweet so you just want to be sure that it’s a pretty rich chocolate — milk chocolate would probably be a little too sweet,” Drummond explained.
“And you don’t want to beat the heck out of it, you want to fold it. Because if you beat it, that whipped cream that you started everything with is gonna … basically lose the bubbles,” she explained. “And I like to stop just short of totally mixing it together.”
The Pioneer Woman star poured some of each bowl’s mixture into a glass dish then topped it with chocolate sandwich cookies, covered the container, and placed it in the freezer to allow it to harden.

Ree Drummond has a 10-minute no-churn ice cream recipe
If you’re looking for a chilled dessert idea that doesn’t require all the freezing time, Drummond has that covered, too. Her fast and fruity ice cream recipe takes just 10 minutes.
“It’s ready in minutes and you will never miss that you didn’t churn it for hours,” Drummond noted on an episode of The Pioneer Woman.
She added frozen strawberries and mango to a food processor — though she shared you can add any frozen fruit you have on hand. Drummond added plain unsweetened Greek yogurt, cream, and vanilla and turned on the food processor.
“It’s gonna do all the hard work,” she explained. Drummond ran the food processor until the mixture broke into big chunks, then used a wooden spoon to smash the frozen fruit a bit more. Drummond turned the food processor on again and blended until the mixture was the consistency of ice cream. “Oh gosh, it looks so good,” she said. “It’s beautiful and pink and billowy.”
She added chunks of dark chocolate to the ice cream and pulsed the mixture to break up the pieces. After scooping the frozen dessert into a bowl, she grated chocolate over the top. “You won’t believe how similar this looks to ice cream,” she said.
